• 17 Apr. GG 54520 Notice 3893 of 2026: Department of Transport (DoT): Updated National Airports Development Plan (NADP) - The DoT have gazetted an update to the NADP for public comment. The NADP is a national planning framework developed by the DoT to guide the coordinated development, expansion, and long-term sustainability of South Africa’s airport network. It provides a strategic, system-wide approach to airport infrastructure planning, ensuring alignment with national transport, economic, and spatial development priorities.

• 16 Mar. The South African Search and Rescue Organisation’s (SASAR) Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre (ARCC) have published their 6-monthly report on aeronautical search and rescue activities, incidents, and emergencies (managed by SASAR ARCC) from August 2025 to January 2026.

• 30 Jan. GG54050 notice / SACAA: New Passenger Safety Charge (EV) - The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) have published their tariff increase for Passenger Safety Charge (EV) - effective 1 April 2026. The Passenger Safety Charge (EV) on the Airline Air Ticket will be R33,67 (Thirty-Three Rand and Sixty-Seven cents) per passenger departing from any South African Airport to either a Domestic or International destination for flights. The current EV charge is R32,19 (Thirty-Two Rand and Nineteen cents), this represents an inflationary increase of 4,6%.

• 2 Jan. GG53981 notice 3733 of 2026 Department of Transport: Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) charges - ATNS have published tariff increases - effective 1 April 2026. The tariff has been increased by 9,87% which is in keeping with the Permission issued for the 2023/24 to 2027/28 period.

• 2 Jan. GG53922 notice 3270 of 2026 Department of Transport: Airports Company South Africa Limited (ACSA) charges - ACSA have published tariff increases for airport charges - effective 1 April 2026. The tariff has been increased by 6,16% which is in line with the Regulating Committee’s permission determination for 2023/24 to 2027/28.

• 28 Feb. GG52205 Department of Transport: SACAA Civil Aviation Act (13/2009): Thirty-Second Amendment of the Civil Aviation Regulations, 2025 - Passenger Safety Charge (EV) increase to R32,19 per passenger for 2025/2026 - effective 1 April 2025.​

• 28 Feb. GG52197 Department of Transport: SACAA Levies Act (41/1998) - fuel levy increase to twenty-two point eighty-six cents (R0.2286) per litre for 2025/2026 - effective 1 April 2025.

• 2 Feb. [Department of Transport Media Statement] Minister Barbara Creecy and fuels industry stakeholders adopt logistics plan for jet fuel transportation to ORTIA. The Minister of Transport, Barbara Creecy, and fuels industry stakeholders such as SASOL and the Fuels Industry Association of South Africa (FIASA) have adopted a logistics plan for the transportation of jet fuel secured by the fuels industry last week for the O.R. Tambo International Airport (ORTIA). The logistics plan was developed by the Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) and adopted in the meeting convened by the Minister on 31 January 2025. Read the Media Statement...

• 25 Oct. The Minister of Transport Barbara Creecy provides update in addressing flight delays as aviation industry prepares for a festive rush and for Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) to provides update in addressing flight delays as aviation industry prepares for a festive rush. The Minister of Transport convened a standing bi-weekly meeting between the Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) and the aviation industry on 24 October 2024. This followed a meeting held on 12 September 2024, and an oversight meeting held on 20 August 2024 with aviation entities wherein ATNS was instructed to develop a comprehensive plan that is costed, with realistic timeframes and technical capacity required.   The meeting was attended by Aaron Munetsi, AASA's CEO and the industry representatives: BARSA, AAASA, Lanseria International Airport, SACAA, and ACSA.

• 1 Oct. Department of Transport: South African Search and Rescue Organisation (SASAR) 2023/2024 Annual Report (1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024) tabled in Parliament. The report covers the administrative and operational activities of SASAR during the period under review including legislative and mandates such as the Convention on International Civil Aviation, International Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue (IAMSAR), SADC Protocol on Transport, Communications and Meteorology, and National Civil Aviation Policy.​

• 5 Feb. Department of Transport News_SACAA announces Ministerial Order regarding administrative support to ASLC and IASLC. The Order places the responsibility of administrative function to the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA). The administrative support includes developing effective systems enabling the smooth processing of ASL applications and Foreign Operator Permits (FOPs) effective 1 February 2024.​

• 26 Jan. GG50041 Department of Transport News_Airports Company Act (45/1993), as amended: Publication of Air Traffic Service Charges. AASA Airline Members are advised to familiarise themselves with the ATNS Air Traffic Service Charges effective 1 May 2024.
